Overview
Project Maanasi has entered a transformative phase in its mission to deliver mental health services to underserved communities. In an ambitious collaboration with the Government of Karnataka’s Health & Family Welfare Department, Project Maanasi is now working to integrate its flagship digital platform, eMaanasi, with the government-run e-Manas system developed by NIMHANS and IIIT-B. This collaboration signifies a leap forward for rural mental healthcare policy and practice in India.
Highlights:
- API development is in progress to allow eMaanasi’s community-level data to interface with e-Manas, using ABHA-linked patient IDs for continuity of care.
- The integration ensures that eMaanasi’s real-time field intelligence complements the legal, clinical, and institutional rigor of e-Manas.
- A pilot rollout in Anekal Taluk is scheduled with active support from Embitel Technologies, eMaanasi’s core technology partner.
What This Means:
For the first time, a bottom-up digital model focused on accessibility, stigma reduction, and culturally sensitive care is being formally paired with a top-down legal registry. If successful, this model could serve as a template for national-level mental health integration, demonstrating how digital innovation can meet public health goals at scale.
